OLD Announcements

Here is an announcement from GMU's Student Teacher, Travis Williams - who was with us just before the quarantine:

Hey class, this is your student-teacher, Mr. Williams. First of all, I hope everyone is safe during this tough time. There are a few optional assignments that I made for you all. If you end up completing them, I would love for you to send them to my email address, Twilli57@masonlive.gmu.edu and Mr. Raymond, raymongl@pwcs.edu. . I hope everyone is being active somehow, reading, eating healthy, sleeping 8-10 hours, and staying positive! I look forward to hearing from you all. Stay safe and good luck!

Assignment Instructions:

It is important to set goals so you have a vision and motivation. For the SMART Goal worksheet, develop your own goal to accomplish over the next week, month, or months based on the SMART acronym. I have provided my own example on the worksheet. I would love for you all to send me your SMART Goals once you come up with your own!

The Health Bingo is a great way for you to learn or review important Health terms from the curriculum, while also playing a fun game with your loved ones during quarantine. If you end up playing Health Bingo with your family and enjoy it, please let me or Mr. Raymond know that you enjoyed the activity!

I hope that you all are safely staying active, whether it is taking a walk around the neighborhood, riding your bike, doing at-home workouts, etc., as well as eating healthy, and getting enough adequate sleep. For the Nutrition, Exercise, & Sleep Logs, I would like you to track everything that you eat over the next week, plus track your sleep, and write down every exercise that you perform. For exercise ideas, there are plenty of great options under the “Useful Links” tab. Take advantage of the information that these great websites give you. Also, it would be awesome for you all to base your nutrition off of the “My Plate” link in the “Useful Links” tab. It is very important that you get an adequate amount of fruits and vegetables in your body every day. I know every assignment is optional, but I would love for you to send me the logs when you are done with them!

Take a look at the Document Container on the left of this web-page to find all 3 of these assignments:
SMART Goal worksheet
Health Bingo
Nutrition, Exercise, & Sleep Logs
**Due Date for all 3 is Thursday, 5/7/20

**New additional optional assignment:
"Hey class, Check out the Stress managment worksheet in the "document container"
I know the situation we are in can often be stressful and sometimes boring. To help deal with this, I hope you are staying active (in a safe manner), by exercising once or twice a day to increase your heart rate. Exercise can improve mental health by reducing anxiety, depression, and negative mood, while improving your self-esteem and cognitive function. For this
Optional assignment, I want you to submit a short video or write a short paragraph telling me how you feel mentally and emotionally before and after exercising. Turn the video/paragraph into me at Twilli57@masonlive.gmu.edu and Mr. Raymond at raymongl@pwcs.edu. Thanks and stay safe!

**Due Date is Thursday, 5/7/20
Take care!
