April 6, 2020

Students,
I hope you are all healthy and safe. Although I’m sad that the school year ended abruptly, I’m truly glad that I got to be your teacher. I miss so many things about being at school, but mostly I miss our time together.

Content covered up to March 13, 2020
We have worked hard this year, and we have covered most of the grade 7 Standards of Learning.  You can see on the  checklist the objectives with an X indicate what we’ve done together. LA skills are recursive meaning we continue to repeat and practice to get better. This means you should work on reading and writing everyday when you can.

Assignments can still be turned in
If you have any missing assignments in StudentVue/ParentVue, please complete them before April 14th. You can scan or send a picture to me so I can update the gradebook.

Summative retakes/redos
Check StudentVue/ParentVue to see your grades on the Persuasive Essay and the Nonfiction (NF) test. Send me an email if you'd like to retake/redo any portion of these summatives.

Stay in touch!
Even though school is closed, I'm still your teacher and I'm here to help. Please feel free to reach out if you need. Send an email or use TEAMS in your Office 365 account to send me a message or start a conversation. We will get through this together.

Language Arts resources during school closure:

1. READ! Read what you want to read. Graphic novels, fiction, nonfiction, online articles...just read. Here's a link to get a digital library card from the public library.
https://www.pwcgov.org/government/dept/library/Pages/How-To-Get-A-Library-Card.aspx

2. Keep a daily journal. This is an unprecedented time in our history. Write down your thoughts, feelings, and reactions. Use your Writer's Notebook if you have it.

3. Using Clever, log into IXL.  Complete the Language Arts sections that we haven't explored, yet.

4. Log onto www.flocabulary.com using Office 365. There is so much fun stuff on Flocabulary, and we all love those raps.

5. PWCS optional learning materials.
