Welcome to 7th Grade!
My name is Mrs. Jamila Stone and I am the 7th grade counselor. I am delighted to be moving up to 7th grade with all the students I had last year and look forward to our continuing relationship. Below is my information if you would like to contact me:
Sexual Harassment Prevention
Flirting or Hurting? When is it okay, When is it not?
In January, all 7th graders will participate in a Sexual Harassment guidance lesson presented by School Counselors, Mrs. Stone & Mrs. Bach. All boys will meet on January 17th and all girls will meet on January 24th. Information has been sent home via science teachers and parents do have the option of opting their student out of the session. This lesson is an approved topic and one that has been mandated for instruction by Prince William County Public Schools Office of Student Services.
Please contact Mrs. Stone (email@example.com or 703-791-0727) if you have any questions about this program or need another copy of the opt-out form.
Students & Social Media:
As the new school year gets underway, we need to continue to be mindful about how students are using social media. Mrs. Stone, 7th grade counselor, and Mrs. Bach, part-time counselor, visited all 7th grade classrooms in October with a message to “Pause Before you Post.” Students discussed the positive and negative consequences of social media and personal publishing, as well as legal consequences of cyber-bullying.
We invite parents to join us in the conversation about digital citizenship. Prince William County Schools has created a social media resource page for parents with information on a wide variety of social media sites including Twitter, Facebook, Kik, Instagram, Snapchat, Ask.fm, and Texting. This site can be accessed by going to www.pwcs.edu and clicking on the “Parents” tab, scroll down the list and click on the “Health & Safety” tab, and continue to the “Social Media & Online Safety.”
Academic & Career Plan
All seventh graders will be meeting with Mrs. Stone at the end of their Career Investigations class to complete an Academic Career Plan (ACP). This plan can be saved and accessed from home so students can update classes, interests, goals, etc. A hard-copy will be sent home with students for a parent signature. Parents are encouraged to review these plans with their students.
To view this site and access the plan from home: Go to: www.pwcs.edu. Find Students on left hand side. Hover over Students and select College and Career Planning, then click on Academic Career Plan. Select the first statement: Create or Update your ACP- Academic Career Plan.
