Scoliosis Information-Physical Screenings and Testing

Vision and Hearing screenings are REQUIRED for all 7th grade students and for those who are new to the county. The Lion's Club supports these e
fforts and uses the PediaVision scanner to help us complete the vision screens. Unfortunately, due to our circumstances the Lion's Club will not be able to help us out this year. We are STILL required to complete these screens and will just have to get creative about doing so! Watch for more info to come! Also, PLEASE remind your child to wear their glasses, as directed and go to the eye Dr for regular checkups, especially since we know how screen time can affect their vision.

All Incoming 7th Grade students require TdaP vaccine, Meningitis vaccine and HPV vaccine

New info can be found HERE.

Proof of immunization or documented exemption must be presented
BEFORE students begin seventh grade classes on August 23,2021

***Please email the updated immunization record to,but you may also

Bitmoji Cough Mask

Is it a "Sick Day" for my child? If they meet these guidelines, then YES, keep your child home. If NO, then SEND them to school!

(of course, I will call you if they simply cannot make it!)

  1. Fever of 100.0F and over – exclude until student has been fever-free for at least 24 hours, WITHOUT the use of over the counter medications. Please, do not give fever reducers to your child before sending them to school. The medication will wear off by lunch and your child will become symptomatic again and I will need to contact you for pick up and the child will need to stay home the following day. PLEASE allow your child to recuperate fully by adhering to this guideline and protect the health of the Benton community.

  2. Conjunctivitis (pink eye), strep infections, ringworm, and impetigo are all infections and must be treated with medication for a minimum of 24 hours before returning to school. Please do not allow affected students back before this time so that other students are not infected unnecessarily.

  3. Rash of unknown origin (especially if accompanied by a fever)

  4. Head injury Please bring ACE Concussion plan to clinic or other treatment plan info if a concussion is diagnosed.

  5. Severe coughing or difficulty breathing

  6. Colds – a child with thick or constant nasal discharge should remain home.

  7. Diarrhea or vomiting – exclude until the student has been symptom-free for at least 24 hours.

  8. Stiff neck associated with a fever and/or a recent injury.

  9. Inadequate immunizations with known disease outbreak in school.

  10. Refer to the VDOH “Communicable Disease Reference Chart for School Personnel” for other exclusions/information.

***If you are contacted to pick up a sick child, please do so ASAP and remember to bring your ID to check them out.(This includes those who are on the emergency contact list)

***Also remember to have a "Plan B" if you work an extended distance from the school. The clinic does not have the capability of isolating sick students for an extended time in the clinic and they need to be picked up ASAP.
